Probably you are right.  Currently I've been able to make the tape to stream 
by reducing the SCSI bus speed from 360MB to 180MB and disabling some 
advanced settings, but just now the driver crashed at me with a segfault so 
probably it's a problem with either the terminator or the cable.  I'll try 
Dell support now.
