Anyone use RHEL4 with Quad core Xeons (PE 1950)?

Thank Duncan. We had trouble with a PE 2650 locking up randomly
which was apparently solved by uninstalling the OMSA software; I
don't know if that could help you. Thanks for the info about the
vm settings though, I'll keep that in mind in case I run into any
trouble.

$dayjob has a 1950 with twin quad-cores, and we've run into a bit of a
pain in the rear with them (that might be solved by firmware, but the
box
is deployed in a hosting centre, and isn't readily available for
downtime). It's an 8 GB unit, and if we thrash the disks (and memory)
hard enough, we can get it to lock up, requiring an IPMI command to
reboot
it. Research on the net muttered about the following:
vm.lower_zone_protection = 150
vm.min_free_kbytes = 10240

OS is CentOS 4.4. RAID is done with Linux software RAID due to the
wrong
PERC being ordered *twitch*.
