Problems with up2date.

Hello all,

Apologies if this has been posted before but a cursory search did not
find any related issues. When I run up2date it generally goes well but
on two machines it gives:

# up2date --update

Fetching Obsoletes list for channel: rhel-x86_64-es-4...

Fetching Obsoletes list for channel: custom...

Fetching rpm headers...
*** glibc detected *** realloc(): invalid pointer: 0x0000002a9b34e72c ***
Aborted

I can email the complete strace output off-list if need be but here is
an extract from just before it crashes:

mmap(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0)
= 0x2a9b30c0

lseek(6, 0, SEEK_CUR)                   = 0
mmap(NULL, 266240, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1,
0) = 0x2a9b30

read(6, "", 4096)                       = 0
mremap(0x2a9b30d000, 266240, 266240, MREMAP_MAYMOVE) = 0x2a9b30d000
close(6)                                = 0
munmap(0x2a9b30c000, 4096)              = 0
mmap(NULL, 266240, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1,
0) = 0x2a9b34
e000
open("/dev/tty", O_RDWR|O_NONBLOCK|O_NOCTTY) = 6
writev(6, [{"*** glibc detected *** ", 23}, {"realloc(): invalid
pointer", 26}, {": 0
x", 4}, {"0000002a9b34e72c", 16}, {" ***\n", 5}], 5) = 74
rt_sigprocmask(SIG_UNBLOCK, [ABRT], NULL, 8) = 0
tgkill(31610, 31610, SIGABRT)           = 0
--- SIGABRT (Aborted) @ 0 (0) ---
+++ killed by SIGABRT +++

I have also tried to remove any custom repos but that it still crashes
even when only using RHN. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Fred.
