Hi Erwin,

Thanks for the suggestion unfortunately it doesn't work in my case. In
my original posting I should have mentioned that the drives are attached
to the PERC 5/i controller and are configured as one virtual disk which
the OS sees as /dev/sda .

When using the smart tools on this disk they just see the PERC
controller and not the actual disks themselves.
