odd behavior with parted

Greetings,

I'm seeing a bit of strange behavior with a 2950 which is configured with a
PERC 5i controller with four, 500GB sata disks behind it.

The host OS is fedora linux (core 6) and the boot loader is grub.

Each disk on the RAID array is configured identically, in fact, the first 3
partitions are being used in a raid-1 configuration.

The partition table looks like this:

Model: DELL PERC 5/i (scsi)
Disk /dev/sda: 500GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: msdos

Number Start End Size Type File system Flags
 1 32.3kB 512MB 512MB primary ext3 raid
 2 512MB 8704MB 8192MB primary linux-swap raid
 3 8704MB 59.9GB 51.2GB primary ext3 raid
 4 59.9GB 500GB 440GB primary raid

Now, the first partition is (/boot) and if I set that partition is bootable,
the host doesn't boot at all. The system appears to freeze during the PERC
initialization just after the number of disks is reported.

If I don't set that partition to be bootable, the system boots just fine.
Anybody else seen this?

Cheers,
Ryan
