MD1000 recommendations?

Hello all,

I need to get several TB of storage and being unsatisfied with both the 
performance and price of the SAN hardware we currently own I want to go 
the direct attached route this time.  It looks like Dell MD1000 fits the 
bill as I don't have a cluster (and apparently the cluster support in 
MD3000 doesn't work under linux) and the IO that 500 GB SATA gives 
should be adequate.

I notice there is a small trickle of MD questions on this list ... I'm 
hoping that some of the MD owners could speak up with their experiences 
good/bad?
