Installing to a Poweredge 1400

This is on a Poweredge 1400.
Raid controller AIC 7899  version 25306
I've tried to install a number of times with different CD's (and distros).

I'm mostly having trouble with the PERC controller, and not seeing the
disks to Partition.
My most recent attempt was with Ubuntu Server.

The installer shows that the aacraid, aic79xx, aic7xxx, and aic7xxx_old
are available. Once one of them is selected,  it responds that it cannot
find the hard drives. If the aic7xxx_old is selected, it continues, but
then searches for the RAID and comes up with nothing.
 
lsmod tells me that they are being added properly. I am assming that the
versions are not correct somewhere?

Any ideas?
