Reset problem with CERC RAID on PE700

Several times in the last couple of weeks a PowerEdge 700 with a CERC
RAID array has taken the SCSI device offline, following a message like
this:

aacraid: Host adapter reset request. SCSI hang

with the result that a reboot is needed.

Both the BIOS and CERC firmware are the latest versions.  Before
upgrading the CERC firmware recently one of the members of the array
kept on dropping out, needing re-initialization.  That problem seems to
have been solved by the update.

I've found a lot of complaints similar to mine, though mainly with the
2.4 kernel or early versions of 2.6.

Is there a good way of diagnosing this?  The server is running Ubuntu
6.06.
