10 gigabit Ethernet - Add on question

How do you topple the memory bus/cup/peripheral bus restraints to even push
past ~2gbps per host, in a practical host environment?

Disclaimer:

I'm not looking for hypotheticals!

I'm just curious and wanting to posulate?

Are you really looking for 10 Gb or are you looking for "more than 1 Gb"?
Two to three GB is easily achieved by teaming more Gb nics. Downside is that
you can't go above 1 Gb in a single stream/connection. I recently asked
quotes for the 10 Gb cards (be advised that you need special wiring, at
least with the 1950/2950 range) and for the quoted price I could fill up all
slots with dual port Gb nics, easily.

I would also be curious which OS flavor and hardware combination you would
need to actually put a sustained 10gbps onto the wire.

Which card(s) are best supported by Dell and Dell's Linux team for 10Gb
Ethernet support?

I am also looking for possible implementation of FCoE, Virtualization
support, and PCI-E, PCI-X, and low profile solutions.

Thanks,

Jim
