Andreas,

I've never used the omreport tool, but talking to a Dell support rep
once, he suggest to execute this:

dmidecode | grep -i serial

You'll get an output similar to this:

 Serial Number: 1ABBCD2
 Serial Number: ..xxxxxxxxx.
 Serial Number: 1ABBCD2
....

That's how i've been getting my serial code from server.
