disk "shrunk" after going into a 2850

Update:

The disk shows up in the RAID controller BIOS as the same size as the
drive that was in the slot previously, despite the drives having
different sizes. I tried deleting the logical volume, removing the
drive, and power-cycling the machine. No luck- attempting to add it
back shows the same incorrect size. How do I get the controller to
see the proper size of the drive? This is a PERC 4e/Di.

Also, I mistakenly removed a single unformatted drive that was in its
own logical volume. What do I need to do to convince the controller
it hasn't "failed"? (I "fail" to see how a single drive can become
inconsistent with itself, especially while not in an OS but rather,
the raid controller's BIOS.)
