adding disk to PE2950 with Perc 5/i

Hi Campbell,

You should be able to do this in OMSA (although in some of the earlier
versions of both OMSA and the PERC 5 firmware, I know that the option
simply isn't there..) - Try looking here;

Highlight the PERC 5
Click on the "Information/Configuration" link
Check for "foreign" related options in the drop down

If not, and you cannot find the option elsewhere to clear/import a
foreign config, you need to update OMSA and/or PERC 5 fw.

In PERC BIOS, it's always available, hit F2 while highlighting the
controller, go to Foreign Config > Clear / Import

Regards,

Nick

Hi Nick,

Thanks (and apologies for accidentally posting the same message twice!)
The disk appears via the OMSA web utility as a foreign disk, and I can
see any way of clearing the config on it (I can't do this via the bios
utility on a test machine either). Do you know if this can be done via
the OMSA software? Or does it have to be done via controller bios? I
can't find a way of removing the 'foreign' config. I would rather not
have to reboot the machine if possible to add this disk.

Regards,

Campbell
