The mpt-status utility will only work for MPT cards, i.e. SAS 5/iR, SAS
5/E, SAS 5/i, or LSI MPT BIOS cards.

Dell recommends you use OMSA to monitor and configure your RAID cards as
this will work with PERC and SAS cards both.

Subject: Problems with PERC 5 + AMD64 + mpt-status

Dear Srs,

I'm trying to install "mpt-status" utility in a Debian Etch AMD64 box
to monitor RAID status, it's a PE1950 server.

# apt-get install mpt-status
# modprobe mptctl

"mptctl" module loads without problems on "2.6.18-5-amd64" kernel
release:

# dmesg
(..)
Fusion MPT base driver 3.04.01
Copyright (c) 1999-2005 LSI Logic Corporation
Fusion MPT misc device (ioctl) driver 3.04.01
mptctl: Registered with Fusion MPT base driver
mptctl: /dev/mptctl @ (major,minor=10,220)

I get this error when executing "mpt-status":

# mpt-status
MPI_FUNCTION_CONFIG (get page header): No such device

There is very few info about this problem in the FAQ, searching in
Internet, etc.. Is there any incompatibility between mtp-status and
AMD64? I get the same error in other machines..

Running mtp-status version 1.1.5, default Debian Etch package.

Regards,
