Protecting the PERC configuration from the bewildered.

CCL,

Sadly no option whatsoever.. closest you will get is disable USB in the
System BIOS so that a KB/Mouse cannot be attached.. Not tried this nor
heard of anyone attempting it. Worst case scenario is reset with CMOS
jumper.

Unsupported, but likely to work..

Subject: Protecting the PERC configuration from the bewildered.

Let's assume that I have a 2950 server and that I have configured the
three disks in to be RAID-5 using the PERC 5i interface, the one that
comes up on boot that you have to press Ctrl-R to get into. I now have
the configuration set just the way I want it. I have installed the
operating systems and software and, in general, have sunk a few hours
into this. I am now going to ship the server to a remote office, where
the son of the company owner, who "knows a little something about
computers", is. I have already set the BIOS password so that he can't
enable PXE boot or the CD-ROM drive, but I haven't found a way to keep
said person out of the RAID config. So the question is this, Is there a
way to protect the RAID config from the prying eyes of the bewildered,
so that they can't go in saying, "We could get 50% more disk space if
this were setup RAID-0." Hopefully, I am just missing that magical menu
choice for set password.

TIA.
C
