Also, I think if you remove the "rhgb quiet" from the grub.conf, it should
echo the output to the screen.

Things to try that are unlikely to break anything any worse.

Boot the rescue CD, chroot to /sysimage then

Make sure /etc/modprobe.conf has an alias line for megaraid_sas.

VER=`uname -r`;/sbin/mkinitrd -v -f  /boot/initrd-$VER $VER

grub-install

If it's getting to stage2, the grub-install is probably superfluous, if
you have time, you might see what results you get from just rebuilding the
initrd.
