Best Linux release supporting OMSA but not official release ?

Hello all,
 
I have a PE1850 running RHEL3. i now need more recent versions of Mysql +
php so i think i'll reformat this server and use another Linux release like
CentOS4/5.
 
i love OMSA, so my question is : will OMSA install correctly on such a
release ? or will it be a problem source on long term ? i often read
messages concerning installing OMSA on different Linux Flavours than
RHEL3/4/5, but was unable to understand/compile final status of such an
operation.....
