There are companies that do gather old servers
etc. for recycling, salvaging etc. Not sure of
one at your location but for a couple of hundred
dollars you should be able to buy a spare server
from which to salvage from, to keep the server
running for now and for the next couple of years
:), extra memmory, hard disk casings, RAID key
etc -- of course you will need the space to store
the spare server (an understanding wife always
helps).
Assuming you are taking this route, make a copy
of the DELL diagnostics CD to take with you, so
that you can check CPUs, fans, memory, backplane
etc before leaving the place.
You could end up with a 6450 as well if you are
not focus on what you need!
