You did nothing wrong. This is fixed in 1.2.7. I didnt push that version to EPEL because I didnt realize that it was affected.

I've pushed the new version. It usually takes 24 hours or so for the new versions to show up. Until then, you can get firmware-addon-dell-1.2.7 from the dell repo.
