Sorry it took so long to reply, I've been on vacation. I didn't rebuild
the array, another individual did (one with pretty limited experience
;-)). When the array was marked as degraded, he simply chose the
default options in the BIOS (which was to rebuild the array as RAID0,
since one disk was offline'd due to SMART error). If you pop a disk out
of an array, that is what it does -- if you choose to rebuild the array
and keep pressing Enter, you get a single-disk raid0. Ugh.
