Experiences with 1950 and 2950

Hi guys!

We're looking to replace PE2850 as our hardware platform and so we're
looking at either 1950 or 2950. We're using Gentoo as OS.

What's your experience with these machines?
Is there any special pitfalls to avoid in choosing hardware configuration?

_Any_ comments about experiences with these machine will be helpful and
comparison between 2850 and 2950 or 1950 would be awesome.
