Bios says NIC labeled "1" is NIC1, kernel says NIC labeled "2" is
NIC1. For one or two boxes I can reset the HWADDR variable. But if I
need to image many 2950/1950(?)s , I'd prefer it to work out of the
box or a way to detect the sitution during installation (redhat
kickstart) and not affect installation on other types of hardware..
Its annoying to find inconsistences between different generation
platforms from a single vendor. We moved away from generic boxes for
that reason. The transition from 2600 series to 2800 series was simple
and hassle free.
I should try the "IPAPPEND 2" option w/ PXE to see if that works.
"fixed" would be when the BIOS and kernel agree that NIC labeled X is
NICX and NIC labeled Y is NICY.
