Cluster PV220S with 2x PE2600

We have two PE2600 one running FC4 and one running FC5. They both have
PERC 4/DC cards in them and are connected to a PV220S. We wanted to use
cluster mode. But we get ~1s average latencies when opening a 5,6k file
in vi. We were wondering if this was expected performance, or if there
was something that could be done to decrease this latency.
