The question still stands, though; why is this script breaking things deliberately, and unnecessarily?

I agree, but I have a fix.

Run /opt/dell/srvadmin/omil/prereqcheck/sysreport and get your machine ID.

vi /opt/dell/srvadmin/omil/prereqcheck/syslist.txt and add your machine.
