Hi, again,

> Now, I want to give a try with kernel 2.6.7.11 for testing purposes.

Sorry, I meant kernel 2.6.17.11. With this manually-built kernel,
the status of related daemons are as follows:

# /etc/rc.d/init.d/dataeng getsnmpstatus
Data Engine SNMP enabled
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/snmpd status
snmpd (pid 4147) is running...
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/snmptrapd status
snmptrapd (pid 4157) is running...
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/ipmi status
ipmi_msghandler module loaded.
ipmi_si module loaded.
ipmi_devintf module loaded.
/dev/ipmi0 exists.

# ps ax | grep dm
 3994 ? Ss 0:00 rpc.idmapd
 4453 ? Ssl 0:00 /opt/dell/srvadmin/oma/bin/dsm_om_shrsvc32d
 5072 ? Ssl 0:00 /opt/dell/srvadmin/dataeng/bin/dsm_sa_eventmgr32d
 5083 ? Ssl 0:00 /opt/dell/srvadmin/dataeng/bin/dsm_sa_snmp32d
 5112 ? Ss 0:00 /opt/dell/srvadmin/iws/bin/linux/dsm_om_connsvc32d -run
 5113 ? Sl 0:13 /opt/dell/srvadmin/iws/bin/linux/dsm_om_connsvc32d -run
 6683 pts/0 S+ 0:00 grep dm

And and an example of the error situation that I counter, while running

$ omreport chassis fans
Error! No fan probes found on this system.

If I use kernel 2.6.9-42.0.2.ELsmp I get,

$ omreport chassis fans
Fan Probes Information

----------------------------
Main System Chassis Fans: Ok
----------------------------

Fan Redundancy : Ok

Attribute : Redundancy Status
Value : Full

Probe List
Index : 0
Status : Ok
Probe Name : BMC FAN 2 RPM
Reading : 5175 RPM
Minimum Warning Threshold : [N/A]
Maximum Warning Threshold : [N/A]
Minimum Failure Threshold : 1575 RPM
Maximum Failure Threshold : [N/A]

.... and so on

Now I notice that with the hand-built kernel

/opt/dell/srvadmin/dataeng/bin/dsm_sa_datamgr32d

is not really running. Hmmm...
