Hi,
I am running CentOS on PE2850, and have installed OMSA5
by following
http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2006-March/061592.html
http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2006-June/066006.html
and it runs just great, as is, with the CentOS 4.4 with kernel
2.6.9-42.0.2.EL-smp-x86_64.
Now, I want to give a try with kernel 2.6.7.11 for testing purposes.
I picked up .config from 2.6.9-42.0.2.EL-smp-x86_64, fed it to
make menuconfig, and the system kind of runs, including "omhelp"
or "omreport version". But any commands like "omreport chassis fans"
give no hardware information contents. It smells like the OMSA is failing
to communicate with the HW.
If I look at
http://www.uta.fi/~pauli.borodulin/dellomsa/omsa44.html#drivers
it sounds kernel 2.6 series need CONFIG_REGPARMS turned on, and maybe
that's what I am missing, but x86_64 architecture has that configuration
option presently removed, no?
So my question is, is this a dead-end, or am I missing anything else?
TIA for your help!
