Hello,

I've run some diagnostics (F10 at boot) + (Dell 32-bits Diagnostics) on the poweredge 6600.
I suspected that errors come from SCSI 0-000 or SCSI 0-001.

No errors on SCSI 0-000.

Here are the errors on the SCSI 0-001 DISK

** F10 Tests
--> Confidence Test : Fail
result code 4400-0132
Msg : Block 5328891 : Unknown host error (0x32)

and same error with block 7424673

** Dell 32-Bits Diagnostics
--> Confidence Test: same errors as F10
--> Self-test : drive self-test failed with error value (0x04)

What should I do with this SCSI hard drive ?

Thank you for your answers

  The bad block list might be full on the disk in one of your VDs. Either use the OMSA live CD or the LSI tools to have a look at the state of your physical and logical disks. It might be time to replace one.

  Subject: I/O error crash poweredge 6600 debian

  Hello,

  I've got a big problem on my dell poweredge 6600 - debian sarge 2.4.26nfs #1 SMP
  Sometimes (once per 2 days), the server crashes (I have to shutdown and reboot with the power button).

  There is a continuously repeated error on the screen:

      I/O ERROR DEV 08:02 SECTOR 3179344*

  * It's the same sector each time !

  When i reboot, e2fsck runs but nothing special except some inode i_blocks errors (fixed)
  There isn't any log about this I/O error.

  Questions :
  1) Does someone know anything about this kind of error ?
  2) What can I do in order to avoid the crash when such an error occurs ?

  Thank you.
