New Linux install; Flavor Suggestions please.

Greetings Group.

For reasons that I'd rather not painfully reminisce on, we are
migrating a Win 2003 server to Linux.

I'm basically familiar with them all but I was just curious if 
anyone has had any "show stopper" issues with any of the
Releases?


We have a PowerEdge 2850. Can I download a package from
Dell and go? I'll probably want to go get the book and CD but
my patience is always short.
