Dell Blade Chassis, Avocent Analog KVM and 1955 blades

                Short version: The 1955 blades and Avocent Analog KVM
don't seem to play well together.

 

                We've had a blade chassis deployed for about a year now
with the Avocent Analog KVM module.  This chassis had only 3 x 1855
blade units running up until a few weeks ago, when we deployed 7 x 1955
blade units to fill out the slots.  After a DRAC firmware update, the
1955 blade units function fine and are installed, however either the
Analog KVM or the dell 17" flat panel monitor appears to have problems
with the 1955 units - only when using the KVM module.

                When switched to the 1955 blades, the monitor displays
normally for about 3-5 seconds, and then goes to black for about 15-20
seconds.  It'll then return to normal for another 5 seconds and return.
The cable from the Analog KVM has PS/2 mouse and keyboard and VGA video
outputs.  The cable and connectors look fine.  I've reconnected the
cable and re-seated the KVM module in the chassis.  All 7  of the 1955
blades display this behavior, none of the 1855 blades have this problem.
The video works fine if I plug directly into the front of the individual
1955 blade units with the VGA + 2 x USB cable.

                The DRAC and Analog KVM both have the latest firmware.

 

                Has anyone else run into this issue?
