RHEL4 U4 Crashes on PE1800

I work for Dell Support in Norway, to my knowledge there is no Dell Direct sales in Kuwait.

Fixes and Enhancements

Fixes: This release is URGENT if 1. or 2. applies, otherwise it is RECOMMENDED.

1. Corrected an issue where the cluster mode setting was not being held when multiple PERC4/DC 
cards are installed in a PE6650.

2. Fixed an issue that could cause a blue screen, file system error or system hang when using EVPD 
inquiry commands.

3. Fixed an issue where the write cache policy is reported incorrectly under rare circumstances. 	

 
 
If you want you are welcome to send any output from linttylog to the list or directly to me. 
But remember, I can not dispatch any parts to Kuwait in the case there is a defective component. In case you need replacement parts you have to contact your local partner.

	We were using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 2 (2.6.9-22.ELsmp) with Oracle 10g Database on Dell Power Edge 1800 server. 
	
	After couple of weeks running on production, the server crashed with the following error: 
	
	Ext3-fs: Error: (device sda8) in start_transaction: journal has aborted. 
	
	We managed to bring the server up by performing fsck. 
	
	The above problem repeated at least 8 times, after which server never came up. 
	
	We re-installed latest version of Linux RHEL 4 U4 (2.6.9-42.ELsmp) through Dell Open Manage CD. Performed complete diagnostic hardware test. 
	
	On 10- Nov-2006 we went live on this Dell PE1800 as production server. During last 1 month we were operating on lower end IBM Server Xseries 225 (RHEL 4 U2) & faced No issues what's so ever. 
	
	On 21-Nov-2006 Dell PE1800 Server crashes with the following Error: 
	
	Ext3-FS Error (Device dm-3) in start-transaction: journal has aborted 

	 

	I cannot find any logs related to above errors, since the file system becomes read only. 

	
	We require your immediate support on a hardware issue we are having with our DELL Server. 
	
	I'll be highly obliged, if you can provide a suitable solution.
