Odds are high that some process still has the deleted files open. Use `lsof`
to
find out which process it is, then either restart it or figure out how to
tell
it to reopen the files. For example, you can send syslog a HUP signal to
tell
it to reload logs files. Good luck,

in the 2900 system BIOS in the CPU settings section, there are:

Logical Processor and Virtualization Technology. Does enabling the
Logical Processor turn on hyperthreading? And what is the
Virtualization Technology option do, make VMWare run faster?

When you remove several large files but the amount of free space does not
change it is often because one or more processes are still referring to the
inode associated with the (now) removed file. Try using the "lsof" command
to see which processes have which files open on which devices.

Hi folks,

Sorry for the non-poweredge question, but has anyone had any experience
with loading Linux onto an Optiplex 320 system?

Am trying with SLES 9 SP4 and SLES 10, but the install hangs (F2 screen)
on SLES 9, and SLES 10 gets a bit further, but doesn't recognise any HD
when it gets to the install page.

I'm presuming SLES 10 doesn't have new enough drivers to detect the SAS
drives, but I don't know (yet) if they exist. If anyone has any pointers
or suggestions (or where to get help if this is not the right forum!),
that'd be great... Thanks a lot!

Karl

Virtualizaton technology is NOT HT. I can't speak knowledgeably about
the second part of your question.

Adam,

Logical Processors = HyperThreading

Virtualization Technology = Processor-Support for HW-virtualisation (e.g.
Intel Vanderpool).
This can be used in upcoming virtualisation Products like ZEN or VMWare.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Virtualization_Technology for details

Someone here may be able to help, but you may also be interested in
knowing that Dell created a linux-desktops mailing list a few weeks
back:

Great work with OMSA 5.1 for Debian!

I discovered some minor issues. When trying to start the web interface a
file to be sourced could not be found and the stop function didn't work
properly. Here's a patch. Save to file patchfile and then apply with

patch -p0 < patchfile
