BMC ROMB Battery voltage sensor state asserted

With increasing frequency I am finding these errors in the ESM log
(PowerEdge 2850 running Debian Linux)

BMC ROMB Battery voltage sensor state asserted

followed a few minutes later by

BMC ROMB Battery voltage sensor state deasserted

When this occurs the disk performance goes to pot and the machine
ultimately fails because of this. I suspect that the cache is being turned
off but apparently it is not being turned back on.

Can you confirm that the cache is turned off when this condition
occurs? Should it be turned back on automatically when the fault is
deasserted? Is there any way to prevent this from occuring?

Thanks.
