PE2950 + Perc5i + SAS == SLOW

I had the same problem... 
It is a too conservative configuration on SAS raid.
You need to modify with openmanage or by BIOS the writing policy from
"Write-Through" to "Write Back" in so doing I obtained a write speed gain of 5X
