PERC Raidmon service dying

Greetings -

Dell PE2600 with PERC 4/Di, running RHEL3 fully up to date.

Since purchasing this system 2+ years ago the PERCRAID Monitor Service 
(raidmon) has always died silently at intermittent times.  This has not been 
a problem in the past as I would keep an eye on the activity of the log file 
and then restart it when needed.  Most recently, it does not seem to be 
restarting.  At least it is not writing to the log file when it restarts, so 
I assume that it is not restarting and something is broken/wrong.  My 
objective is to get the service restarted and working properly again.  Can 
someone point me to what might be wrong, or how I should go about diagnosing 
it further?  I am a novice part-time Linux admin (full-time forester) for a 
small business, so good explanations are welcome.  Thanks.
