Raid reconstruction safety

Hey,

I need to add 3 disks to an 11-disk raid-5 volume, and I was wondering
wether the volume remains redundant during the operation. Also, how can
you estimate the time it'll take to do so ?

This particular one is a PERC 3/DC, but it would be interesting to know
the behaviour of various controllers and raid levels for this.
