cacti/nagios monitoring.

Install OpenManage but not the webserver if you don't want to run that, 
first though make sure snmp is installed. Then there are scripts to 
check chassis status and raid status on nagios exchange. For the 
trending data there are scripts available to punt this info into cacti 
so you can trend temps and fan speeds etc.

I do all this and it works great.
