DELL PE 1650 ERA/O not available anymore

I had a similar issue albeit under Windows. The ERA didn't respond on
it's own NIC, the windows update package would moan that no card was
present etc. Also the BIOS would moan that the Embedded server
management firmware was damaged or something similar.

After a discussion with Tech Support, I managed to find a pile of
discarded floppies and write the floppy firmware update discs using the
floppy package on the web.

Booting off this puts the card into a 'Recovery mode' and re-flashes it
back to defaults (so be careful it'll be back to the default
username/password). It took a good 5-10 minutes to do this in total.

Also, make sure to test your floppies are readable or take multiple
copies of the disks with you - I went through 6 discs before I found two
that were reliably readable.... I get the feeling 'new' floppies have
been sitting in a damp warehouse somewhere for the last ten years.....

Michael.

I already tried that, but if I download the Firmware update for the ERA
(linux bin-file) and try to install that one, I get the error that the
ERA card can not be established. I'm not at the server location (40
minutes drive), so I can not try to install it through an floppy right
now.
