Hi list,

We've got an PE 1650 running CentOS 4.3. The system sometimes hangs
because of very high loads.

I checked the OpenManage of the server and I noticed that the firmware
version of the DELL Perc 3/Di was out of date (2.7.x). I updated the
firmware to V2.8.1 built 6098, all went well. To complete the
installation of the firmware I needed to reboot the server. After the
reboot, the server came back online, but now the ERA/O module isn't
responding anymore. Through OpenManage I noticed that the SCSI
Controllers on "PCI Bus 2" were removed according to the "diagnostics ->
Hardware changes". The ERA/O module is still being mentioned here.

We really need the ERA/O module to reboot this machine. What can we do
about this? I tried to (soft)reboot the server again, but this didn't
solve the problem. Is it possible that an "server power cycle" solves
our problem? Or can we downgrade the firmware? Please let me know!

Greets,

Joost Waversveld
