I guess this is no more true. I did some MySQL benchmarks with RAID10
and it was much better than RAID1, while database size was small to fit
on pair of drives so if it would be simply concatenation I should have
gotten similar numbers.

I also tested different raid levels block sizes, filesystems etc.
