One of the best places to check for linux laptop problems/solutions is

I suspect you may have already checked there, because I didn't find
any D600 entries with your WiFi card in them, but there might be some
other people who don't know about this useful resource.
Also, I don't know if it supports the FN-F2 command or not, but the
i8kutils package adds support for some of the buttons and key combos
on newer Dell laptops (including the D600). Debian package info is at
http://packages.debian.org/stable/utils/i8kutils
