OMSA can send you an SNMP trap when your drive goes bad (or other RAID
or system problems occur). There are several pieces of software that
will allow you to then send an email based on this trap. The Dell
supported option is ITA.
You just need to configure the SNMP on your server and tell it where to
send traps. This configuration is usually in /etc/snmpd.conf and
changing that will just require a restart of the SNMP service.

Subject: RAID monitoring
Hi,
a question about howto monitor your RAID health status.
I've allready installed the whole opemanager suite from the yum repo and
a couple of new services are added during boot but is there a good howto
to follow? The readme file in the /etc/openmanage dir says to check the
Dell CD for documentation but I used the repo and have no CD.
Or other alternative software for RAID monitoring is also welcome.
(like ideal would be to recieve an email when a HD needs replacement).
kind regards,
Geert
