Precision 670 fails to boot after installing RH4 U2 - display message is GRUB

After I install RH4 update 2, the reboot fails. The display says
 
BIOS Installed Sucessfully!
 
GRUB
 
The system does not boot. The controller is  CERC Sata 2S. The HDs are
2x160 GB Samsung HD160JJ/P in a RAID 0 configuration. The array is
marked bootable. I am using 1 logical volume.
 
Any help is most appreciated.
