The traditional, tried-and-true method for dealing with these concerns is to
have a "Development" environment where you test out new packages to make
sure they do not break your setup, a "Test/Staging" environement that
mimicks production for final testing and validation, and then, finally, your
production environment.
You can explore other things, such as the RPM rollback feature, but
fundamentally, if you are deploying untested stuff straight to your
production environement, you deserve whatever you get, and whatever you do,
it might not be recoverable without reinstall.

Subject: Redhat Linux security updates.
Hello,
Is there any way to remove red hat security updates without uninstalling the
complete package and then again installing it?
Redhat network (rhn.redhat.com) releases security updates to various
packages. As we apply them to the systems I am worried if something breaks,
then I need to remove and reinstall the package and in process loose all the
customization.
Other option is to restore everything from tape, which is time consuming
option.
Thanks for help, suggestions.
