RHEL3 uses up2date instead of yum, however, up2date can pull from yum
repositories. The announcement
(http://linux.dell.com/firmware-tools/announce.html), as well as the
fwupdate.com repo's web page, includes instructions for use with
RHEL. Briefly, it looks like:
# set up repos
wget -q -O - http://linux.dell.com/yum/software/bootstrap.sh | bash
wget -q -O - http://repo.fwupdate.com/repo/firmware/bootstrap.sh | bash
# install firmware tools
up2date -i firmware-addon-dell
# install BIOS update
up2date --solvedeps=$(inventory_firmware -b -u)
apply_updates
It should be noted that the current repo setups work on RHEL{3,4},
Fedora Core {3,4,5,devel}, and SLES9.
Thanks for your interest!
