2850 freezing, leaving nothing in logs

Make sure you have up to date firmware and using at least a 2.6.14 kernel.  
You can use the ones from backports.org if you do not wish to recompile.    I 
have not had your exact problem but I am running a leter kernel.  On past 
issues that just appeared, this has been the fix that worked.  I sometimes 
think Dell has an expiration set on firmware updates......
