Suse 10.0/10.1 on a Linux PowerEdge 1950

I realize Dell does not support this, but I was attempting to install Suse
10.0 or 10.1 on a Dell PowerEdge 1950. The installation fails since Suse 10
does not recognize any of the hard disks. Strangely, when I ask Suse for a
system inventory (detect hardware) the hard disks and controller show up
just fine.

Has anyone encountered this with Suse or another Linux distribution? Anyone
know what the problem is?
