IPMI on the Poweredge 850

I've been playing with this using Ubuntu's Dapper Drake.

I found that I could use the open interface (-I open...) easily enough
once I'd got the modules installed.

I couldn't get the LAN interface to work with the version in Dapper
(1.8.2), but things were better with 1.8.7 which is in edgy. To
install that, I:

1. Pointed the deb-src in /etc/apt/sources.list at edgy.

2. apt-get source ipmitool

3. fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc from inside the ipmitool-
   directory.

4. sudo dpkg -i ../ipmitool_1.8.7-2_i386.deb

You'll need to install various other packages (from dapper) to get the
thing built.

Once installed, it seems to work when pointed at the BMC on a
different PE850, but not when it's pointed at its own BMC. I've no
idea why.

Cheers,
