I have a Dell Poweredge 2950 with a PERC 5 configured as a 300GB RAID 5,
dual broadcom gigabit network adapters
4GB RAM
DVD/CD-rom
no floppy
I was able to load the system with debian netinst version 12 Dec 2006
however after the first reboot when the system is mounting the root file
system
it attaches the scsi removable disk sdb
then I get the following message
Check root= bootarg cat /proc/cmdline
or missing modules, devices: cat /proc/modules lc /dev
ALERT! /dev/sdb1 does not exist. Dropping to a shell!
the system then starts BusyBox.
I did a "cat /proc/cmdline" and received the following
root=/dev/sdb1 ro
I did an ls on the /dev directory, there was a sda1 file but not a sdb1
file
I am new at loading linux
any ideas?
Thank you
