OK what is the currently running kernel and is this the same as what the
source is installed for? so does a uname -a and a rpm -qa | grep kernel
yield the same results? eg
[root at xxxx ~]# uname -a
Linux xxxx 2.6.9-34.0.2.ELsmp #1 SMP Fri Jul 7 19:52:49 CDT 2006 i686
i686 i386 GNU/Linux
[root at xxxx ~]# rpm -qa | grep kernel
kernel-smp-2.6.9-34.EL
kernel-smp-2.6.9-34.0.2.EL
kernel-2.6.9-34.EL
kernel-utils-2.4-13.1.80
kernel-2.6.9-34.0.2.EL
kernel-devel-2.6.9-34.0.2.EL
note that kernel-devel is the kernel sources
