What happened to my OMSA ?

Well it looks like from my LogWatch file for that day that the kernel-source
package was installed. And I have restarted the openmanage services again
since then with no change to the (lack of) monitoring. Are there any other
possibilities, or things that I could/should be checking?

Package Installed:
   ['kernel-2.4.21-47.EL', 'kernel-pcmcia-cs-3.1.31-19',
'kernel-smp-2.4.21-47.EL', 'kernel-source-2.4.21-47.EL',
'kernel-utils-2.4-8.37.15']
   ['sysreport-1.3.7.2-17']

Jeff

When you upgraded kernels, did you also install the kernel-source
package for the new kernel? If not, install the kernel-source package
and stop/start the openmanage services again. It sounds like the kernel
module didn't get re-compiled for your new kernel.

Subject: What happened to my OMSA ?

I've had OMSA 4.5 installed and working fine on a PE2600 running RHEL3
for a year or so. I noticed last week that items displayed in the web
interface under the MainChassis item is now an abbreviated list of what
was being displayed about a month ago. Currently this item lists only
Memory, Network, and Ports. Previously I recall it listed Fans,
Temperature Sensors, and I think some other stuff; at least fans and
temps were listed somewhere, now they are nowhere to be found. The only
thing that I have done lately to my system is updated some packages and
my kernel from U7 to
U8 with a reboot. I looked in dmsg for some possible clues, but as a
novice linux administrator for a small company (full time ecologist,
part time system admin) I may not recognize the clues that are there.
If anyone can tell me what might of happened, or provide me some
guidance for what to look for I would appreciate it. I would like to
understand what happened first before trying to fix it. I am sure
people are going to tell me to upgrade to OMSA 5.0 (which I may do), but
I am coming to the knowledge base here to try to learn something first.
If there is any other information that I can provide to the list let me
know.
