where to get bootable diagnostic ISO?

Dave,

Get the Diagnostic Utilities -> Dell 32-bit Diagnostics.

The one you downloaded (Poweredge Diagnostics) is an OS-level diagnostic
utility.

There's a Linux .bin if you go to the same place under Diagnostic
Utilities, but the above is the Windows .exe.  Run this, extract it, and
it will prompt you for media type -- you can create boot floppies,
bootable USB flash drive (it'll format the entire USB key), bootable CD
ISO, or PXE-bootable image.

I had a 1950 that had the RAID controller die a month ago. Diagnosed the
issue in a jiffy. And phoned Dell.

Dell told me to use the diagnostic utility on the drive I said the
controller is broken and I can't access the diagnostics. They said well
you need to use the diagnostics to diagnose the problem, I said the RAID
controller is broken I can't access the drive. They said use the
diagnostics .............. And so it went on- and on- and on.......... 
Three days later they arrived to replace the controller. Not bad
considering we are supposed to receive same day business service! 
Recomend Dell in mission critical operations? No!

Best advice: The setup creates a dos partition on the HDD with the
diagnostics. If you can download the diagnostic CD then extract the DOS
utilities to dos boot CD as well.

Why they did not make a bood CD with the diagnostics beats me.

If you get stuck I am sure I can zip up the diags partition and mail it
to you.
